So, Let Me take you on a Voyage of a Tourist attraction in Rajasthan with Extraordinary architectural design, Abhaneri Chaand Baori (Stepwell). Chand Baori is located In a small Village Named Abhaneri ( means scintillating village) near Bandikui city in the Dausa District of Rajasthan.

There is not any certain evidence who constructed this Marvelous Stepwell but it is believed that it was constructed during the 9th century by A king Named Chanda/Chandra of the Nikumbha Dynasty.

Why Chand Baori Stepwell is Famous?

Chand Baori attracts tourists majorly because of its unique architectural design. This place defines the true colour of Rajasthan and the beauty of this place is mesmerizing. Chand Baori has 13 stories, around 30m(100 ft) deep and, 3500 Steps designed in geometrical shape on three sides. The main purpose of building the steps in such a way is to allow access to more people at one time.

The fourth side of Chand Baori has pillared corridors which allow to walk and behold the beauty of Stepwell. Chand Baori is considered as most photogenic step well of India. Chand Baori’s location is also famous for filming some famous blockbuster movies, such as Bhoomi, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and  .

This place is managed by archaeological survey of India and most amazing part of this place is that Rajasthan tourism department started two days Abhaneri festival in 2008 which is held in October now every year. Rajasthani folk performance like ghoomar, kalbeliya, raas leela, puppet shows, and art and craft exhibitions are such activities make this place even more interesting and amazing.

It’s hard to believe that it was only constructed for general purpose (water harvesting) Because once you start to adoring you just can’t get enough of it. There is also an old Temple located 100m away in the west of the Chand Baori dedicated to Harshad Mata (Mother of Joy).

There are beautiful carvings and sculptures present on temple Walls which you notice walking around it. The Temple floor also has Board games engraved which show that it wasn’t only a place for worship but also a community space.

Best Time to Visit Chand Baori Stepwell

This place is located about 92 km away from the capital city Jaipur and the best time to visit this place is between October to March when the weather is quite good and you can able to see the good water level.

We can visit this place on entry timings which are 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and there is no entry fee. While exploring chand baori make sure you are wearing comfortable footwear and attentive while walking on stairs.
