The Pichola lake took its name from the small village Pichhola nearly. It was originally created by a Banjara in the 15th century, during the time of Maharana Lakha. Pichola Lake is nearby the main city of the Udaipur district in Rajasthan.

Lake Pichola was said to be renovated in the early 20th century by Maharaja Udai Singh. Apart from the two large island palaces are Lake Palace hotel and Jagmandir.

Jag Niwas Palace, Udaipur

This palace, one of the island palaces on Lake Pichola, has now taken the form of a convenient hotel. The Courtyard, a swimming pool built in the shade of a lotus pond and mango trees, is an ideal place for fun lovers. You can come here and enjoy living and eating here, but you cannot go inside its interior.

Jag Mandir, Udaipur

Another island palace built on Lake Pichola. This palace was built by Maharaja Karan Singh, but Maharaja Jagat Singh got it expanded. There are many spectacular views from the palace, the beauty of the Golden Palace is rare and grand.

City Palace of Udaipur

Famous and Fabulous City Palace of Udaipur’s life is integral. Maharana Udai Singh 2nd built this palace. The kings who followed him did elaborate work in it. Yet there are surprising similarities in its construction. To get to the palace one can enter from Baripol from the northern side and from the Tripolia gate.

Shilpagram, Udaipur

It is a Shilpgram depicting traditional houses from Goa, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra. Classical music and dance of these states are also displayed here.

Sajjangarh Palace (Monsoon Palace),

Maharaja Sajjan Singh built this palace with the Sajjangarh wildlife sanctuary. It has a nice cool breeze even in summer. Sajjangarh offers a beautiful view of the city of Udaipur city. The sanctuary in the foothills of the mountain. In the evening, this palace illuminates with lights, which is very beautiful to see.

Fateh Sagar, Udaipur

Maharana Jai Singh built this lake in the 16th century. But it was destroyed by a heavy flood. After that, Lake was re-built by Maharana Fateh Singh. There is a water palace with a beautiful garden in the middle of this Udaipur lake. You can reach the lake garden by boat.

Moti Magari, Udaipur

Moti Magari is located on the top of the hill near Fateh Sagar Lake. There is a statue of the famous Rajput king Maharana Pratap here. There are beautiful gardens around the paths leading up to the statue, especially the Japanese rock garden.

The nearest railway station is Udaipur Junction and it is located in the main city. Another option is Malvi Junction and it is 99 km away from the Udaipur city.


Udaipur is connected by Rajasthan State Highway 9 & 32 & National Highway 27, 48, 58, 76A, 162A & 927A. Buses are always available to reach here from every city in India. You also have other options like hire a car or rent a bike.
